In the student essay call: Running Up Hill: The struggle of Student Athletes from Arak Anthology, which is wrote by Zachary Tuthill. The author uses a lot of quotations and paraphrase to make his essay more interesting and more perusable.
In the third paragraph, the writer showed us his quotation counterargument which is the time struggle happened on student athletes, and how they choice between studies and do their sport, and how would they deal with this problem. The writer used a quotation to introduce his idea for this essay. I think the way he used is very interesting, because he made this essay more attractive.
He also did great job on found quotations .There is one example of quotation in this essay. In the third paragraph, the writer used some specific details and numbers to shows that great numbers of athletes among university students, and he also showed us the three good ways to deal with those problems which are happened on athletes.
In the end, I think this essay is very persuasive and objective, because even though the writer is already shows us the three great ways to deal with those problems, but he is still very humble to judge the topic he researched.

About how to use quotations correct.
In the third material which is named, “A Way With Word, or Away With Words: Effect of Texting and IMing on Language” on Arak Anthology, the writer used some quotations which are very interesting and contribute to the essay so much, and made the essay make more sense.
The first examples of quotations in these reading materials are in the author quote a sentence from the book called: Linguistic Ruin? LOL! Instant messaging and teen language, which is written by Sali A Tagliamonte and Derek Denis. This sentence makes perfect sense here, because what the author going to show us is about the txt and MI language always used a few words to illustrate a complete sentence. It’s maybe very easy to write but txt may also include many unconventional words which is very easy to made the listener get the wrong idea, and made some understanding between those people who used txt. And the quotations the writer used is show the same ideas to his topic, so I think the author of “A Way With Word, or Away With Words: Effect of Texting and IMing on Language” did great job on this quotations.

According to the reading material named "Discovering the Truth about Columbus", Columbus is a really did not undertake his voyages out of curiosity or to prove the world was round, so what? Actually I know this already since I was little boy. So I think what we should do now, is correct the wrong impression we been given, and do not let such things happening again. As for the statement like "what would the same history look like if the losers wrote the history?" I think we have no needs to think about it, even it is more like a perfect image in our head, But it is still never going to happen. So why bother to think about the outcome which is not even real.
Even though I think if I choose to talk about "what would the same history look like if the losers wrote the history?” But what I want to say is concentrate on some real life instead of the things we already done and can never changed. We can help some Africa country to use the resources product. We can prevent the war happened all over the world. We can also teach pool country some technique to help them out from shortage. I think all these above are what we should do know.

Blog Assignment #4
Based on my experience, when I just be here, everyone looks friendly and kindness. But it is still very hard for me to make some American friends, we have totally different background and experience. That why is so hard for us to find something in common to talk about.
However, I think it is still worth a shot eventhough sometimes is very difficult for us to make some American friends. Because when you finally find some, it is a great way to learn some thing sbout America, get to know more about different culture and improve ability to communication. That all above is why I think make some American friends have a lot of benifits.
I don't think it is necessary to stick with the people who from my own country, because if you spend your time with those people all the time. There is not time to let you get to used to your new America life, and that also going to be a big barrier to get to know some new friends.
1. excerpt: a passage selected from a large work.
2.stumble: an unsteady uneven gait.
3.sarcasm: witty language used to convey insults or scorn.

When asked about the differences of "Nonverbal Communication" between China and America, I think the biggest one is the way to deal with strangers. When I am first here in America, I feel very strange, because when I walking down the street, everyone who walks by always smiles and says hi to me. I just don't know why, for this is the first time I've been here and there is no way for me to know other people. However, in China, such thing will never happened.
Also I think the second differences is the space between boys and girls. I think they are too close to eachother, because in my culture, when I talked to a girl we always keep a pretty big space, and when we talk to eachothers we always very shy to show our real feeling. And we barelly have eye contact with other people. Because in China, it's very weird to stared at somebody's eyes.
I've alreally been here about four weeks, I and like here very, even though I got some problems cause the culture differences, but I think it's ok. And I can try realy heard to get used to it.

Option 3
After read this article named “The First Four Minutes” . I find this article especially makes sense to me, because in my experience, I always like to judge a stranger by first impression. And in my country, the first impression is always wrong.
About a year ago, I met a guy in my English class. That guy dress very wired,
and when he talking to me, I can barely understand him, because he talks with
very heavy accent. That’s why I don’t like this guy in first hand. But after we became more familiar with each other, I found he is a really good guy, because when I got trouble with my reading and writing, he always happy to help me out of my problem, and plus his English is really good. Eventually we become very good friend. And I found my first impression is totally wrong.
When I finish my reading for this article, I think this article do ring my bell, because when I was a little boy, I used to very shy and unconfident, and only have few friends at that time. When I realize that problems, I force myself to become more easygoing and confident. After that I really made a lot of new friends, and I was very happy about that change.
In the end, I feel I couldn't agree more for the last parts in the reading paragraph about how to behave in front of my parents, because I miss my parents so much. and I will never let them get hurts.

When I was a little boy, about nine or ten years old, I already lived in a sports shool in China. I could barely see my parents. Even though I didn't think I was in the same situation with the writer who wrote "Mother Tongue", but I think somehow we do have something in common.
According to this set of reading materials. I found this writer must be an ABC, which means American Borned Chinese. And according to what her wrote in "Mother Tongue", her mother was not good at speaking English. Because she made a lot of grammar mistakes, and this directly influenced writer's writing ability, led to many "B"s in her grade book.
And this just reminded me of what I have gone through in my childhood. As I mentioned previously, I went to a boarding sports school, and I didn't get to see my parents until once a week. I didn't know what to say when I was with them. Because we talked too little, and we spoke in different ways. However, here I am in America. And it is the fact I and my parents are in different country makes me miss them so often. I realize no matter what happens, they would always be my parents, and this will never change.
I feel "Mother Tougue" is a really inspiring book. I would definitely find and read the full version.
