When I was a little boy, about nine or ten years old, I already lived in a sports shool in China. I could barely see my parents. Even though I didn't think I was in the same situation with the writer who wrote "Mother Tongue", but I think somehow we do have something in common.

According to this set of reading materials. I found this writer must be an ABC, which means American Borned Chinese. And according to what her wrote in "Mother Tongue", her mother was not good at speaking English. Because she made a lot of grammar mistakes, and this directly influenced writer's writing ability, led to many "B"s in her grade book.

And this just reminded me of what I have gone through in my childhood. As I mentioned previously, I went to a boarding sports school, and I didn't get to see my parents until once a week. I didn't know what to say when I was with them. Because we talked too little, and we spoke in different ways. However, here I am in America. And it is the fact I and my parents are in different country makes me miss them so often. I realize no matter what happens, they would always be my parents, and this will never change.

I feel "Mother Tougue" is a really inspiring book. I would definitely find and read the full version.
